As Christmas approaches, I am reminded of a special gift I received one Christmas. It was special because it was something I had always wanted. I thought it was too big and too expensive so I didn’t really think that I would actually get it, but I really wanted one so when everyone asked me what I wanted for Christmas that year I said I wanted a train set. I was probably 9 or 10 years old. My father had an old train that was given to him but it never ran and I wasn’t allowed to touch it. ( I thought for sure I could fix it!) So I wanted my very own train that I could play with. I was so excited to see that huge box all wrapped up and could only imagine it being my very own train set. I would play with that train for hours, setting it up different ways and watching it run around the tracks. Then one day a few years later, I heard the Lord tell me to give something of value away as a seed for something else I was believing for. Immediately I knew I was to give my train set away to someone who would benefit from the same joy I received in playing with it. I had given my best away.
Jesus too obeyed His father God and gave His best away.
He gave His life for us so we can have eternal life. As you celebrate this Christmas season, remember that the expression of giving a gift came first from God. Wow—what a gift we have to share with others!
Romans 6:23b: “…the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
