Plan a little special surprise after or during family dinner time in December. Each night you have something planned, put on a Christmas apron or hat. Your kids will figure out the connection and the anticipation will begin to build when they know there’s going to be more for dinner than chicken and rice.  Here are a few fun things to try…

  • Snow Dough:
Need: ½ c. salt, 1 c.  Flour, 1 c.  Water, 2 Tb. Oil, 1/3 C. silver or clear glitter, 1 Tb. cream of tartar, ¼ c. white powdered tempura paint
  • What to do:
Mix all ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring until ball is formed. Knead dough until cool. PLAY!!
  • Warm Snowmen:
Need: 3 refrigerated biscuits per person, 2 pretzel sticks per person, several raisins per person
  • What to do: Let each child place biscuits vertically on piece of foil to resemble snowman. Add pretzel sticks for arms. Add raisins for eyes, nose, mouth, and buttons. Slide foil on baking sheet. Bake as directed. Enjoy!
  • Traditions:  Talk about or recreate a different Christmas tradition each evening.
